SMI – Wi-ME

smi

SMI – Smart Metering Infrastructure is a heterogeneous system that interfaces Power Line Communication with Wireless modules.
The solution developed by I.Co provides the infrastructure of public lighting networks through the installation of a power line communication (PLC) facility and smart meters equipped with a radio system for the domestic consumption remote reading (gas and water).

Every single domestic counter is provided with a CTX device which interfaces with the pulse generator of the same counter to then transmit on wireless carrier the consumption absolute value.
The RTX coordinator collects the read values from the various CTX and transmits them to the central server using the PLC network.

Wi-ME – Wireless Metering Infrastructure is an automatic reading system (AMR) of consumption designed for the remote consumption reading recorded by the gas meters for domestic use.

Every single domestic counter is provided with a CTX device which interfaces with the pulse generator of the same counter to then transmit on wireless carrier the consumption absolute value.
The RTX coordinator collects the values read from the various CTX and transmits them to the central server using the GSM/GPRS communication.

Unlike the SMI solution, Wi-Me is entirely based on the wireless communication between the meter and the coordinator and also between the coordinator and servers.
